Alle dieren die geboren werden na 9 juli 2005, zijn voorzien van twee identieke oormerken, één in elk oor. Voor die datum droegen de dieren een identificatienummer in het linkeroor en het sanitelnummer in het rechteroor. Bij verlies van één van deze oormerken, was het onmogelijk om de dieren "voldoende" te identificeren. Daarom werden het identificatienummer en het sanitelnummer samengevoegd tot één identificatienummer.
